The incidents included seven reports of minor property damage and two reports of injuries, including injury to a child’s leg, according to the United States Consumer Product Safety Commission. Consumers are advised to immediately stop using the recalled air fryers and ovens. It’s estimated that 635,000 Insignia air fryers and air fryer ovens were sold in the United States, and 137,000 in Canada between November 2018 and February 2022. The units cost between $30 and $150 and were purchased in stores and online at Best Buy, BestBuy.com, eBay.com and Google.com.

Air Fryer Models Affected by the Recall

This recall involves eight different models of Insignia Digital Air Fryers, Insignia Analog Air Fryers, and Insignia Digital Air Fryer Ovens with the model numbers NS-AF32DBK9, NS-AF32MBK9, NS-AF50MBK9, NS-AF53DSS0, NS-AF53MSS0, NS-AF55DBK9, NS-AFO6DBK1, and NS-AFO6DSS1. Model numbers can be found on a label located on the underside of the unit, beneath the Insignia brand name.

How to Get a Credit or Refund for Recalled Appliances

The company has created a self-service portal to process returns and refunds of the fryers and fryer ovens. Consumers must register to receive a shipping box and pre-paid return shipping label to return the product and receive a gift card. Consumers can also call a hotline at 800-566-7498 that’s open from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. EDT Monday through Friday. “The amount of the electronic gift card will be the greater of the price paid on your purchase receipt or the average sales price in the country of purchase ($50 USD for units purchased in the United States and $75 CAD for units purchased in Canada),” the company writes on the website. According to the Best Buy website, Best Buy stores will not provide credits or refunds for recalled air fryers or air fryer ovens returned to stores. Don’t have the purchase receipt anymore? If you ordered online, you should search your email account for the order email and print the email to return to Best Buy with the product, according to the company. If you no longer have a store receipt or order email, but you used a My BestBuy account when you purchased the product (either online or in store), you can log in to your account, search for the product, and find the price you paid. You should print that page and return it to Best Buy in the package with the product.
